If muscle cars were people, you would be in love with the new 2019 Dodge Charger. Dodge added a little more muscle and a few performance upgrades along with some cosmetic improvements, making the 2019 Dodge Charger fresh and new, while staying true to its muscle car roots. It's a keeper.
The high-performance versions of the 2019 Dodge Charger now come with a new grille. The R/T Scat Pack and Hellcat both sport this new grille featuring dual air inlets. Dodge is bringing sexy back too, offering Brass Monkey 20-inch forged wheels and a Satin Black hood. And the performance hood, side sills, spoilers, and fascia from these higher models are coming standard on the G/T and R/T models, as well as offering 20-inch Satin Carbon wheel and Black Noise wheel options.
The 2019 Dodge Charger comes with different engines ranging from the base 292 horsepower V-6 to the rocketing 707 horsepower Hellcat V-8. The R/T Scat Pack and the Hellcat also receive standard Launch Assist, which modifies engine torque in milliseconds to reduce wheel hop and improve traction control at launch. Top speed is increased to 130 miles per hour for the G/T and 150 mph for the R/T.
The base SXT is now available with all-wheel-drive and the G/T offers a rear-drive model. On the R/T Scat Pack buyers can now choose a Bilstein adaptive damping suspension with Auto, Sport, and Track modes. The G/T and R/T models receive a standard performance suspension and improved steering. Flip the Launch Assist switch on the dash and hold tight through the corners.
The SRT Hellcat offers an Alcantara package bringing suede-like material to the seats and steering wheel along with new instrument badging. The G/T and R/T models receive standard Dodge Performance Pages with the 8.4-inch U-connect screen and performance bolstered seats. Also available are the Houndstooth cloth performance seats, standard on the G/T and R/T models. If you are looking for leather, 2019 models receive new stitching on the dash and doors for that sleek look and ultimate comfort.
The 2019 Dodge Charger is equipped with an anti-lock brake system designed to optimize brake pressure under extreme circumstances to maximize the vehicle's ability to turn while braking. Pair that with the Stability Control system that automatically senses when the vehicle handling limits have been exceeded and reduces engine power and/or applies select brake pressure, will help prevent the driver from losing control. Front, side, and overhead air bags provide protection from front collisions, side impact collisions, and roll overs.
Seat belt pretensioners automatically tighten seat belts in a collision to put the passenger in the optimal position for safety. Anti-whiplash head restraints offer rear impact protection, cradling the passenger's head in an effort to reduce whiplash injury. Features like rear-cross traffic alert, blind spot monitors, lane-departure warning with lane-keep assist, forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control, and automatic emergency braking are optional or come standard with packages and higher trims.
