Nine trims and multiple configurations provide plenty of options when selecting a new 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Choose from the Laredo, Limited, Trailhawk, Overland, Summit, SRT, Altitude, Upland, and Trackhawk available as rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive. The Trackhawk, SRT, and Trailhawk are available with four-wheel drive only.
The SRT and the Trackhawk increase the pedal power with the SRT equipped with a 6.4-liter V-8 with an eight-speed automatic with overdrive and auto-manual producing 475 horsepower. Not to be outdone, the Trackhawk has the same eight-speed automatic with overdrive and auto-manual and a 6.2-liter V-8 producing 707 horsepower.
The remaining models are equipped with a 3.6-liter V-6 with an automatic transmission. The 3.6 produces 295 horsepower, the 6.4-liter produces 475 horsepower, and the 6.2-liter produces an impressive 707 horsepower.
The Grand Cherokee handles the way a Jeep is designed to do: handle on-road and off-road driving with ease of maneuverability due to an active suspension system, disc brakes, and features such as Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and adaptive cruise control. The automatic transmission provides a smooth and quick transition in shifting, which supports an easier driving experience of the mid-size SUV.
The three engines each produce the power for a strong performance and towing capabilities needed wherever and whenever you're traveling. For acceleration, the Summit, for example, covered zero to 60 mph in eight seconds. For stopping performance, testing showed the Grand Cherokee going 60 mph took an estimated 124 feet, which is a competitive and acceptable figure for an SUV.
Keeping it swanky on the inside with plush interior detailing, an array of high-tech features and comfortable seating continue to keep the Grand Cherokee as a top ride for on- and off-road adventures. Cargo space provides ample storage room with an estimated 11 pieces of carry-on items easily stored with the seats up, and 24 carry-on items can be stored with the passenger seats folded down.
High-tech gadgets add to the convenience and entertainment factor for the driver and passengers. The updated infotainment system provides a glass touchscreen with sharper resolution, access to Bluetooth phone and audio, voice control, auxiliary input, USB port, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay. Optional features include mobile Wi-Fi, navigation, 4G LTE, and real-time weather and traffic information.
With its on-road and off-road capabilities, safety is a factor, and the Grand Cherokee provides an array of features for a safer driving experience. There are standard and optional features depending on the model selected.
Several security features include break resistant glass, rear child safety locks, panic alarm, remote keyless entry, a locking fuel flap with power door locks, and remote activated perimeter/approach lights.
Passenger safety is covered by occupant sensing air bags, anti-whiplash front head restraints, front seatbelt pretensioners, three-point rear center seatbelt, manually adjustable front head restraints, first- and second-row overhead air bags, dual front impact air bags, and fixed rear head restraints.
