Lost Dutchmen State Park

The Lost Dutchmen State Park, which was named after the fabled lost gold mine, is located roughly 20 minutes from Queen Creek in the Sonoran Desert. The park boasts views of and access to the most scenic parts of the legendary Superstition Mountains.

Trails throughout the park meander through the beautiful and rugged Superstition wilderness where you’ll see native wildlife like mule deer, coyotes, and jackrabbits. The trails vary in difficulty, ranging from the easy Native Plant Trail that is a 1/4 mile long and features various desert plants to the 4-mile Siphon Draw Trail that winds up into the Siphon Draw Canyon.

Lost Dutchman State Park is well-maintained and features restrooms, paved roads, parking areas, and picnic areas scattered throughout. It also houses an excellent camping facility consisting of 138 sites, of which 68 are electric and offer water. The rest are non-hookup sites for tents or RVs. Every site boasts a picnic table and a fire pit with an adjustable grill.

Skyline RV Resort

If you prefer a more urban camping experience, then the Skyline RV Resort in the beautiful San Tan Valley might just be the place for you. It provides spacious lots, free Wi-Fi for RV sites, full hookups, a laundry service, and showers. There are also plenty of activities offered at the resort, so you won’t get bored. You can go for a swim in the heated saltwater pool, try your hand at billiards, or play bocce ball, shuffleboard, or horseshoes. If you want to go out for supper, there are quite a few restaurants within walking distance.

The landscape contains interesting rock formations, canyons, little coves, and an abundance of wildlife that include countless species of birds, deer, horn sheep, and javelinas. The waters of Canyon Lake are perfect for all kinds of water sports, including wind sailing, waterskiing, jet skiing, and fishing. You can also board the Dolly Steamboat to take in the beauty of the surroundings in a leisurely fashion.

Each site contains a picnic table, grill, and fire pit, and clean restrooms are available. You can also camp on the water in your boat.
