A Jeep Wrangler on a snowy road about to enter a forest.Jeep has not sold a pickup truck for nearly two decades, but the 2019 Jeep Wrangler lineup is about to change that. The JL Wrangler-based pickup will join the other Jeep Wrangler models next year. But, that is not all Jeep has up its design sleeves. Here’s a look at what to expect across the Wrangler series for 2019.

Current Wrangler Models

Currently, the Wrangler lineup includes four different models: Sport, Sport S, Sahara, and Rubicon. There are special editions such as the Golden Eagle, Altitude, Willy’s Wheeler, Freedom Edition, and Rubicon Recon, which offer off-road options, comfort, and additional style. In previous models, two-door versions were called Wrangler and the four-door models were Wrangler Unlimited. In 2018, that all changed with all models and trims available in either version.

It is expected that the four trim models will carry over to 2019, with options such as a 285-hp 3.6-liter V6 and 270-hp 2.0-liter turbo four, six-speed manual transmission, and an eight-speed automatic transmission.

2019 Wrangler Pickup

Since the end of production of the XJ Cherokee-based Comanche pickup in 1992, there have been concept teasers, but nothing made it to the production stage. Things are definitely changing now. Details are still not set in stone, but it’s believed that the long-anticipated arrival of the Jeep Wrangler pickup will hit the streets April 2019.

It is believed that the body will look like a Jeep Wrangler, with a truck bed, a trimmer profile, and a vertical kinked grille. Prototype photos have shown four-door models, but some sources believe it will likely be available in a two-door model as well. There is some speculation that it will have a diesel engine and a removable roof, just like a regular Wrangler.

2019 Jeep Wrangler Diesel

Some Jeep fans have been excited about the upcoming diesel-driven 2019 Jeep Wrangler, which is scheduled for release sometime during the first quarter of 2019. It’s two inches wider than the previous one and has a longer wheelbase. You’ll still see its signature boxy exterior and round headlights. However, the aluminum doors are expected to be easier to remove, and the windshield easier to fold. Previously, you had to remove 28 bolts before folding it down; now you only have to remove four.

Look for the new roof configurations that you’ll be able to choose from, the new front end bumper design, and the updated grille. The interior is still relatively simple, but higher trim packages will offer leather seats with contrast stitching and a leather dash. Under the hood, you’ll find a 3.0-liter V6 EcoDiesel engine, connected to an 8-speed automatic transmission.

2019 looks to be an exciting year for Jeep fans, with these two new releases: the Wrangler Diesel and the Wrangler Pickup.
