For several years the Ram 1500 has been in the mix as one of the top pickup trucks to own. Powerful Engine Options
The 2018 Ram 1500 offers three engine configurations and diesel options. The 3.0-liter EcoDiesel engine provides 240 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque. This particular engine is exceptionally efficient and nets between 20 and 27 miles per gallon, and up to 700 highway miles per tank. This fuel efficiency puts it in line with many compact SUVs.
The 5.7-liter Hemi V-8 engine increases the horsepower to 395 but loses 10 pound-feet of torque. There is also a 20 percent drop off in fuel efficiency compared to the EcoDiesel engine. The third option is the 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 engine, which falls in the middle of the two engines. It produces 305 horsepower and 269 pound-feet of torque. Fuel efficiency falls between 17 and 25 mpg.
A Smooth and Comfortable Drive
One of the biggest standouts for the 2018 Ram is its powerful and finely-tuned suspension. A coil spring suspension comes standard, which is a big improvement over more common leaf-spring suspensions. You can also opt for an air-ride suspension upgrade, which offers automatic load leveling, a feature that will ensure your Ram is performing optimally. You can also adjust the ride height to one of five levels via the dashboard interface. The system will also lower the vehicle automatically at highways speeds to reduce drag and improve overall efficiency.
Highly Capable Towing and Ample Storage
Towing with the 2018 Ram 1500 is a breeze. Depending on the engine and additional features you opt for, the 1500 can tow between 7,500 and 10,700 pounds. The bed offers a payload between 1,000 and 2,000 pounds, and there is room for 18 pieces of carry-on luggage when the rear seats are folded down.
Cutting Edge Infotainment System
The Ram is equipped with the uConnect system, which is well known for its quality and quick response rates. A full suite of connectivity features are optional on the 2018 Ram 1500. Features like Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth connectivity, mobile Wi-Fi, real-time weather, and real-time traffic updates can all be equipped to the system. Many of these features were not available in the 2017 model year.
The center console’s 8.4-inch touchscreen display is the largest among full-size pickups. You will also find two 12-volt outlets and two USB ports for charging devices on the go. The rear seats also have access to some of these outlets and ports.
